15 years!! (Or. post 2/15/07)
15 years ago today, I married my best friend. 15 years......the time really has flown by. How do you thank someone for giving you their all and letting you be your all in return? I remember like it was yesterday following him around. I knew as a very young girl that this was the man I wanted for the rest of my life. I remember telling my friends and sisters, "You wait, I will marry him one day". No one ever believed me. LOL! Through the years, we have had ups and downs as all marriages have. We have succeeded in our marriage because we both believe that we are worth the extra effort to fight through the rough times. People give up too easily. I love who I am with him. Believe me when I say that I have put him to the test...He loves me through all of my OCD, my tattoos, my piercings...lol. He shakes his head at me and wonders what is wrong with me but still, somehow, he loves me. I really am not sure what I did to deserve him. I am not even sure that I DO deserve him. I thank God all the time for putting him in my life. This is not all that mushy or thought provoking....There are no words to describe what it feels like to marry your best friend. I am blessed that God has allowed us 15 years filled with tears, laughter, love, respect, and 2 beautiful daughters. He is my soul. I cannot imagine my life without him and hope to God that I do not have to find out. To lose him, would be losing part of myself. He and my girls are everything to me. He can make me laugh when no one else can. I am looking forward to the rest of my life with him. I pray that for any of you that do not have this, that you will someday be able to experience this kind of love. It is a ride well worth getting on. I love you, David! Thank you for 15 wonderful years!
Friends.... (Or. date 1/16/07)
Most of you that know me, know how important my friends and family are to me. I keep them in my thoughts constantly. There have been a few old friends that I have been lucky enough to come in contact with again. It is funny how things happen. I received an email from a friend that I met in elementary school. Now, we keep in touch through here. I have been thinking about one friend in particular. I haven't seen her in 15 years. I haven't talked to her in almost 10, I think. Recently, I ran into her dad and a good friend of her mother's. Then I found her on classmates.com(Yes, I am cheesy...I pay for that site. LOL). We have been talking since. I really had forgotten how much I enjoyed talking to her. I did get an email through classmates from another old friend. I responded. I hope that we are able to keep in touch also. Isn't it funny how people are put in your lives, just to go out of it for whatever reason, only to be put right back? All things happen for a reason and God gives us people in our lives at the times when we need them. I have truly been blessed by the friends that I have been given. No matter how long it has been, they are in my heart and mind forever!
Age.... (Or. date 1/1/07)
Well, I officially turned 34 yesterday. 34.....I wonder....am I now supposed to be "all grown up"?? At what age are we supposed to do that? And what is the definition? I have two kids and have been married for almost 15 years. Is that grown up? I can say that I have been friends with Julie for 20 years. Is the fact that I have had a friend for that long qualify as grown up? I am around people everyday that hate their age. They hate that they are "old". I have been told my whole life "wait until your ___(fill in blank) and then you will see". Each time that I reach that age, I fail to see what there is to complain about. It seems that the older I get, the more I enjoy life. Oh sure....I am not as flexible, etc., as I once was. But "old"? I don't think so. As an adult, I do not have to get anyone's "permission". My family thinks that I am losing it. I have 3 tattoos and I am going to get my nose pierced. They are shocked. I say why? The older that I get, the more I am able to show just who I really am. I am a great mother and I hope that my husband would say that I am a great wife. I love them all with everything that I am. Isn't that what matters? We walk around in life "labeling" people and telling them what they should do and what they should look like at a certain age. I was told "you dress like you are younger". What does dressing "my age" look like exactly? I dress how I feel. If I like it, I buy it. So at what age is "grown up"? Is it supposed to be 34? Younger? I am not sure. If growing up means that I have to adhere to someone else's ideals of what a person should be.....well, I want no part of it. I am 34 years young and I love it!
A Time For Contemplation (Or. date 11/8/06)
I was just sitting here thinking about my life. Do you ever wonder why some things happen to some and yet others do not have to go through the same things? I think of things that I had to go through and I think of what others have to go through. We all sit and feel sorry for ourselves and things we went through or are going through. I am guilty of this as well. I try to remember that someone else has gone through so much more than I will ever have to endure. Some don't get through it, and some rise above it. Those are the people that I admire. I have gone through some things that, at times, wish I hadn't gone through. Still, other times, I realize that those things are what made me who I am today. I try to look at the positive things in my life. I have a great husband, two wonderful daughters, two amazing, trustworthy friends, a ton of sisters and brothers that I can count on, amazing parents, grandparents, etc....All of them added to who I have become and the ones that in the past have impacted my life in a negative way have also contributed. I feel that I am a better person for having risen above these things. I fully believe that God does not put us through more than we can handle and we should all take those times, good and bad, and use them to help others through whatever situations they are going through. My favorite quote says it all. It is etched in my memory and in my heart."Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising everytime we fall" Here's to all of you that have impacted my life in any way.
